How to file a Reno annulment

1. Complete and submit this secure form  (safe server – same technology used by your bank’s online account access). And just so you know, a Reno annulment is the same as a Las Vegas or Nevada annulment. All these terms are used interchangeably and essentially mean the same thing; in the end, you have a final Decree of Annulment. We file in the most appropriate jurisdiction for your Nevada annulment case.

2. The ready-to-sign annulment documents will be emailed to you within 24 hours.

3. Print the documents, take them to a notary to sign and send them to our office.

4.  Once we receive the documents back from you and signed and notarized, your annulment will be processed through the appropriate Nevada Family Court venue. It generally takes one to two weeks for the case to get to the point where the judge makes a decision (when both parties sign). If only one party signs the annulment documents, and provided the Defendant does not contest the annulment, it will be about 12-16 weeks before a decision is made. The exact length of time depends on whether the Defendant can be served personally or must be served by publication, and also the pace at which your judge processes, and decides on, annulments. We e-mail the final Decree of Annulment to you as soon as it becomes available to us.

Will there be a hearing?

There are usually NO court hearings for annulments in Nevada for a very large majority of cases. We NEVER require you to attend a hearing. This is ALWAYS up to your judge. If yours is the rare case that does necessitate a hearing, there is a near 100% chance you’ll be able to appear by phone instead of in person, unless you live in Nevada, because Attorney James E. Smith will be physically present in the courtroom to represent you!
